My Work

To make money, be independent, have a life other than study and friends, contribute to the society and have something to spend are all things that are very important to me.

Since I was thirteen I've been working. First little jobs, later some more interesting things followed. I started harvesting apples at a local farmer. I hated it and it only lasted a few weeks. Than I started to stocking shelves at our local growsery store. I liked this more but because a surgery (I will tell you more about that later) I had to quite and afterwards I didn't returned.

Later in life around 15 years old I was a cassier in a shop with electronics and got fired after six months, I worked in a clothingshop when a was about 17 years old but they had to save money and I had to quite as well. Every summer I had another job in cafetaria's and restaurants and at many places I was done after 5 or 6 weeks, no problem in a maximum 8 weeks summer break. But the employers were also always done with me. Not that good for your confidence. Nevertheless, at the moment I have a job for over 7 years at the same place. I like the job, the collegues and the work I have to do isn't that boring. I can do it on my own and don't have to work as a group. I guess that works for me. I have quite some friends that I got to know from this company. Even though the situation changed at my job and the manager got replaced and isn't that nice as the one we had before. I'm happy with this job.

But, because situations change and a lot of nice people left the job or graduated, moved to another city and the ambiance now changed with a lot of new people, I applied for a new job. Right now, just for two weeks during the Christmas holiday I work at an office with a wage that is a staggering 25% higher than I'm used to. It is not busy at all which gives me the oppertunity to start this blog. Great don't you think?!

Right now, to be honest, I really do need to work a lot to at least pay my bills. The past five years I'm living on the edge and don't spend more than 200€ a month for food, clothes, train/bus tickets, presents, charity.

Since one and a half year I have my own apartment without any roommates. This also had a huge impact on my savings, the floors, the curtains, the paintings everything. Plus my running costs really increased. Because I'm a fulltime student it hardly ever happends that I can work two days or more a week. And if I can I will be totally occupied and feel resistent to do anything else than take a shower and go to sleep at the end of the day/week. I really have to work at least 16 hours a week to keep up, and in a few months from now at least 25 hours. It is impossible...
